Mirren moved to Dundee from Germany to become the iPLACENTA project manager. While teaching Cultural Studies and Intercultural Communication at the University of Hildesheim, she became focussed on the student experience in the internationalisation of Higher Education. Besides leading intercultural workshops for students and staff, Mirren has since worked in various areas of the European Union’s Erasmus+ framework and coordinated a number of projects for universities aiming to increase mobility and to improve the integration of international students.​​

As project manager, Mirren supports the coordinator, Dr Colin Murdoch, and the entire team to plan and successfully implement the iPLACENTA project. ​
