Project Title: Integrative placenta: A systems biology approach towards phenotype-specific interactomes for placental function
Julia obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2014 at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, an MSc in Immunology at Aberdeen University, Scotland in 2015, and an MSc in Neurobiology at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Germany, in 2017. Her thesis was completed in Aberdeen, Scotland and focused on the analysis of functional MRI data with CONN. She was then based in Barcelona, Spain where she participated in the project “Anemia and Blood Transfusion in patients with TBI”.
Throughout her education Julia covered the basics of statistics which led to her participation in the Bertelsmann Data Science Challenge, the subsequent Udacity Nanodegree in Data Analysis, and involvement in educational charity 1 Million Women To Tech (1MWTT). Her project in iPLACENTA is the natural progression of her interests in data science. She would like to improve her analytical skills and will now establish modularized molecular interaction network maps in the context ‘omics’ data of pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction and identify decisive factors to support early diagnosis and long-term prognosis.
